Baseado na história real de Nicholas Winton, o enredo acompanha sua visita a Praga em 1938, onde se depara com famílias em condições precárias sob a iminência da invasão nazista. Em uma corrida desesperada contra o tempo, Winton lidera um grupo de apoio para resgatar centenas de crianças antes que as fronteiras sejam fechadas. Décadas depois, em 1988, ele ainda vive atormentado pelo destino daqueles que não conseguiu salvar. No entanto, um reencontro inesperado com sobreviventes oferece a Nicholas a chance de confrontar sua culpa e finalmente encontrar paz com o legado de suas ações.
